Pinterest is great for saving recipes and party ideas but it'll never work for my business!

Sorry to break it to you but if you've ever thought this, or used this as the reason you're not using Pinterest for your business, you are missing out.

Pinterest is a major player in marketing tools for 2020 and with good reason. It's a search engine not a social media.

Which means...your content is searchable. Giving it a MUCH longer shelf life than traditional social media.

I know you know this. Posts on IG last for several hours or a day at best. On Facebook, way less.

On Pinterest, they're evergreen. EVERGREEN. That means you don't have to constantly keep writing and publishing new content and the valuable content you have goes much, much further.

But okay, okay, let's back up a little here.

How do you actually use Pinterest to add to your business, grow your email list and so on.

Simple. It's the very first step in your funnel.

Real quick, if you're not familiar, a funnel is simply getting people on to your email list so you can nurture them and eventually pitch a sale to them or sign them as a client.

So now let's think about that in terms of Pinterest.

You write a killer blog post that solves a problem for your ideal client. Now you need to get it in front of your (future) client's face, right? So you make a pin for it and put it on Pinterest.

Load it up with keywords. Anything they could search for that relates directly to this specific post.

They find your gorgeous pin. Click it. Read your blog. Completely love what you've said.

Now in your post you've added a call to action for them to join your email list. Maybe you've offered them something for free that relates to your post or to your business and they want it.

So they sign up!! Now they're on your email list (which is, I can't even put into words how important this is) and you can nurture them by sending them more valuable content.

After some time, after they start to like and trust you, you can start asking for sales. But not too soon and not too often or you'll come across as spammy and scare them away.

It's really that simple!

The Pinterest Marketing Funnel

1. They find your pin on Pinterest
2. They check out your incredibly valuable blog post
3. They join your email list
4. You send them nurturing, valuable emails
5. You offer them your products/services for sale

Do you see how Pinterest is a key player in this funnel?

If you just wrote the blog post and left it at that, I'm sorry to tell you but nearly no one would find it.

You've still got to put it out there. And you can still share to Instagram and Facebook if you want! But you'll get a much longer return for your time with Pinterest. Because if you put the right keywords in place, your pin will be searchable for days, weeks, months to come without you ever having to touch it again.

That's what I'm talking about when it comes to automated marketing!

Tell me in the comments if you're using Pinterest for your business!

xx,
Delana
